Stewart Middlemas
Stewart Middlemas, originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, studied Photolithography at Newcastle College of Art & Design before working as a Lithographic Planner in the UK and South Africa. After relocating to Cornwall in 1986 and later settling in Northumberland, Stewart shifted careers, spending eight years fishing for mackerel out of St Ives while painting for pleasure. This period marked the beginning of his professional painting journey.
Stewart’s work is deeply influenced by the coastal beauty of Cornwall and his Northumberland heritage, with a particular focus on boats and the sea. His paintings capture the essence of seaside towns, villages, and the maritime landscape, reflecting his personal connection to the water. With his background in the printing trade and a love for the sea, Stewart’s artworks bring the charm of the coast to life in vibrant and captivating pieces.
